You’ll hardly find people who don’t have a social media account. Why have I used the word “Hardly”? As stated by Datareporatal, around 4.33 billion people are active in social media where the population of the world has reached 7.6 billion. I’m not against using social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, or whatever. But my question is, are we using social media for a certain period of time in a day or immersing ourselves in it?

Social media has created a false impression that it increases the connection to each other. But according to a remarkable number of studies, “ People who pass more time on social media are more lonely”. On the ground of this, I can mention a quote from Jean Twenge “ Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy — and Completely Unprepared for Adulthood.”

I’m not supporting Jean Twenge but can you deny the fact that the young generation is passing less time hanging out and interfacing more time online? Obviously not. According to Statista, internet users spend about 144 minutes on social media every day. You’ll be shocked to hear that if you keep the kids under 13 away from the equation, 65% of the population in the world is active on social media.

Now come to the point, How Social Media Actually Kills Your Productivity, & Creativity? You may notice that, after waking up in the morning, when you take the phone to check your email, or social media messages, how much time you mindlessly scroll social media sites. It gives you nothing but kills your valuable time.

Social Media is a kind of addiction to a major portion of people. If you think that you are not one of them then do one thing that I am going to suggest you. Keep recording for a month, how often you log in to your social media on your phone or computer every particular day. After a month, count how many times you logged into your social media when you were bored, lonely, or avoiding certain people.

The time can be spent on your creativity that you spend on social media. According to some studies, on average, a user spends almost 2 & a half hour on social media that time you can use to increase your productivity undoubtedly.
